The User Interface
The form is the user interface, it handles the settings that the map uses to draw itself. User interface code is always a pain, so I've tried to add useful bits as protected functions.
SMap requires at least PHP version 5, but there are important bug fixes in more recent versions of PHP. Try to stay current.
